2 Days Queen Elizabeth Safari

Day 1: Depature To Queen Elizabeth National Park

The safari begins with an early morning departure from either Kampala, Entebbe, or Fort Portal, as you head into the western Rift Valley. The drive itself is rewarding, passing through lush farmlands, rolling hills, and tea plantations, with opportunities to stop for photos and roadside markets. By late morning or early afternoon, you arrive at the gates of Queen Elizabeth National Park, ready for your first taste of the wild.

After checking into your lodge and enjoying lunch, the adventure continues with an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This 32-kilometer natural waterway connects Lake George to Lake Edward and is one of the park’s most spectacular wildlife corridors. As your boat glides along the channel, you’ll see hippos in their hundreds, Nile crocodiles basking on the banks, and elephants and buffaloes coming down to drink. Birdlife is prolific, with kingfishers, African fish eagles, pelicans, and saddle-billed storks adding flashes of color and sound to the scene. The boat cruise is often the highlight of any Queen Elizabeth safari, offering close encounters with wildlife at the water’s edge.

Evening brings a game drive across the Kasenyi Plains, where lions prowl the grasslands in search of kob antelopes. As the sun sets, the savannah glows in golden light, creating breathtaking views that linger long after you’ve left the park tracks. Dinner and overnight at your lodge follow, with the sounds of the African night—crickets, frogs, and distant hyenas—serving as your lullaby.

Day 2: Enjoying The Best Of The Journey

The second day begins with a sunrise game drive, the best time to witness predators returning from a night of hunting and herbivores grazing in the cool morning air. The Kasenyi sector is a hotspot for lions, while herds of elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, and waterbucks dot the landscape. With luck, you might spot a leopard retreating into the shade of an acacia tree or hyenas patrolling the plains.

After several hours of wildlife viewing, return to your lodge for breakfast before beginning your journey back to your starting point. Depending on your route, you may pass crater lakes, scenic villages, or tea estates, giving the journey home as much richness as the safari itself. By evening, you arrive in Kampala, Entebbe, or your next destination, carrying memories of a short but unforgettable journey into Uganda’s wilderness.
