What a 14-Day Gorilla Safari Package Actually Includes

Every gorilla safari quote should break down exactly what a 14-day package includes and what it doesn’t — vague, bundled pricing is one of the most common sources of surprise costs on a first trip. Here’s what a well-built 14-day package actually covers.

What’s Included

Gorilla Trekking Permit(s)

The permit fee itself, booked in your name with the relevant wildlife authority — 800 US dollars per permit in Uganda, 1,500 in Rwanda.

Ground Transport

All road transfers between the airport, lodges and park trailheads in a safari-appropriate 4×4 vehicle with a driver-guide, plus fuel.

Accommodation

Lodging for every night of the itinerary at the tier you’ve chosen — budget, mid-range or luxury — usually on a full-board basis (all meals included) at safari lodges.

Park Entry Fees

Daily park entrance fees, separate from the trekking permit itself, for every park visited on the itinerary.

A Driver-Guide

An English-speaking driver-guide for the full trip, who also handles game drives where the itinerary includes them.

Internal Flights

A 14-day grand circuit reaching Kidepo Valley typically includes one or two internal flights rather than the long overland alternative — confirm whether these are bundled or quoted separately.

What’s Not Included

International Flights

Flights to and from Entebbe or Kigali are always separate, along with any visa fees for your nationality.

Tips and Gratuities

Porters, guides and lodge staff all work partly on tips — budget for these separately, as they’re never bundled into the quoted price.

Drinks and Personal Extras

Alcoholic drinks, laundry, spa treatments and souvenirs are almost always excluded from full-board lodge rates.

Travel Insurance

Not included by any operator we’re aware of — arrange this separately before you travel.

Ask for an Itemised Quote

A properly built quote lists the permit, transport, lodging and park fees as separate line items rather than one bundled figure, so you can see exactly what you’re paying for. Get in touch and we’ll send an itemised quote for your dates.
