Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a single, self-contained gorilla trekking destination rather than a stop on a wider circuit — a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering 321 square kilometres of some of Africa’s oldest rainforest, split into four trekking sectors: Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo. A trip built entirely around Bwindi, without adding other parks, gives you time to actually settle into one place rather than moving lodges every night or two.
Day 1: Arrival in Bwindi
Transfer by road or scheduled light aircraft to your chosen sector — Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga or Nkuringo — with an evening briefing on trekking etiquette.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking
A 7:30am ranger briefing, the trek to find your assigned habituated family, and a strict one hour with them once located.
Day 3: Departure
The return transfer, timed against your onward travel.
Why Stay Bwindi-Only
A single-park trip means no time lost to inter-park transfers, which on a 3-day schedule can otherwise consume most of your trip. Every hour goes toward Bwindi itself.
