Booking a Trek That Starts From Nkuringo
Your permit is issued for a specific sector, not the park generally, so the trailhead you’re assigned — in this case Nkuringo — determines which lodge cluster you should book, how early you need to arrive at headquarters, and roughly how long the trek itself tends to run. Nkuringo is Bwindi’s most remote trailhead, with Virunga volcano views on a clear day.
Day 1: Arrival Near Nkuringo
Transfer to a lodge close enough to Nkuringo park headquarters to make the 7:30am briefing comfortably — most lodges in this cluster sit within a 15 to 45 minute drive.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking From Nkuringo
The ranger briefing, trek to your assigned family, and one hour with them.
Day 3: Nkuringo Community Walk
A walk through the terraced hillsides and local community.
Day 4: Second Gorilla Trek
A second permit with a different family, if travelling in a sector with more than one habituated group, or a transfer to a neighbouring sector.
Final Day: Departure
The return transfer, timed against your onward travel from Entebbe.
