Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a single, self-contained gorilla trekking destination rather than a stop on a wider circuit — a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering 321 square kilometres of some of Africa’s oldest rainforest, split into four trekking sectors: Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo. A trip built entirely around Bwindi, without adding other parks, gives you time to actually settle into one place rather than moving lodges every night or two.
Day 1: Arrival in Bwindi
Transfer to your chosen sector with an evening briefing.
Day 2: First Gorilla Trek
The core trekking day.
Day 3: Rest Day or Forest Activity
A lighter day — a nature walk, birding, or simply resting at the lodge.
Day 4: Second Gorilla Trek or Habituation Experience
Travellers with a second permit trek a different family; others can instead book the Gorilla Habituation Experience in Rushaga sector for a longer four-hour session with a family still being habituated.
Day 5: Departure
The return transfer.
