Day 1: Kigali – Transfer to Nyungwe – Canopy Walk Adventure

The journey begins with an early morning departure from Kigali, winding through Rwanda’s rolling hills and terraced farms. Along the way, you may pause at the King’s Palace Museum in Nyanza or the Ethnographic Museum in Huye to learn about Rwanda’s history and culture. By midday, you arrive at Nyungwe National Park, where the cool air and thick forest welcome you. After checking into your lodge and enjoying lunch, the afternoon is reserved for the famous canopy walk. Suspended high above the treetops, this thrilling bridge walk offers sweeping views of the forest and an opportunity to spot primates and birds at eye level. As the sun dips, you return to your lodge, surrounded by the sounds of nature.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking – Return to Kigali

The second day begins before dawn as you set out for chimpanzee tracking, the highlight of Nyungwe. Guided by expert trackers, you venture into the forest following the calls and movements of these energetic primates. Encountering a troop of wild chimpanzees as they swing through branches, feed, or groom one another is an exhilarating and humbling experience. After spending time with them, you return to the lodge for breakfast before beginning the scenic drive back to Kigali. The journey offers one last chance to enjoy Rwanda’s green hills before arriving in the capital by evening, marking the end of a short but rewarding escape into the wild heart of Nyungwe.
