Along the route, guides provide insights into local culture, agriculture, and the country’s conservation efforts.

Day 2 – Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

The day begins early with breakfast followed by a briefing at the park headquarters. Rangers provide instructions on trekking protocols, hygiene measures, and safety precautions to protect both visitors and gorillas. Each participant is assigned a habituated gorilla family.

The trek can last between one and six hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Trails traverse bamboo forests and montane rainforest, offering opportunities to observe a variety of flora and smaller wildlife. Once the gorillas are located, guests spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat. Photography and quiet observation are encouraged, maintaining safe distances as instructed by the guides.

After the trek, guests return to their lodge for lunch, rest, and reflection on the unforgettable experience.

After breakfast, travelers embark on a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The route passes through rolling hills, tea plantations, and rural villages, offering opportunities to observe Rwanda’s lush highland landscapes. Evening briefings provide an overview of the next day’s activities, including trekking protocols, safety measures, and tips for spotting primates in dense rainforest environments.

Day 5 – Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest

Early morning is ideal for chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe’s ancient rainforest. Rangers guide guests through the dense vegetation in search of habituated chimpanzee groups.
