Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the actual summit success rate on this route and schedule?Machame’s seven-day version, with its extra acclimatisation day, has a meaningfully higher success rate than the bare six-day minimum — typically well above 85% for reasonably fit climbers who follow the “pole pole” (slowly, slowly) pace.
Do we need prior mountaineering experience? No technical climbing skills are required on Machame; it’s a demanding high-altitude trek, not a climb, though a good level of fitness is strongly recommended.
