Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya Wildlife and Primate Circuit

Your driver-guide meets you at Entebbe International Airport for the drive south-west to Bwindi, roughly 8–9 hours via Kampala’s Northern Bypass, the Equator crossing at Kayabwe and lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre near Mbarara. Evening trekking briefing on arrival.

7:30am briefing at park headquarters, then the trek itself through dense rainforest — thirty minutes to six hours — followed by a strict hour with your gorilla family.

The drive to the Cyanika border post, a standard land-border process generally under an hour, before a Rwanda-based driver-guide continues you on to Kinigi.

A 6am wake-up for the 7am briefing opening with a performance by the Kinigi intore dancers, then the trek through increasingly misty forest on the volcanic slopes and the strict hour with your second gorilla family.

A transfer to Kigali International Airport for a flight via Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, connecting on to one of the Maasai Mara’s airstrips for an afternoon game drive on arrival.

A full day out on the Mara’s plains, split by a picnic lunch wherever the morning’s sightings take you — lion, elephant, buffalo and giraffe across the reserve’s open, short-grass terrain.

A day focused specifically on the Mara River itself, prime territory for the dramatic river crossings that define the Great Migration between roughly July and October, when thousands of wildebeest gather on the banks before plunging in against crocodiles and the current. Outside migration season the river remains reliable for resident hippo pods and some of the largest Nile crocodiles in the reserve.

A pre-dawn pickup, around 5:30am, for the short drive to the launch site, where the balloon is inflated by torchlight before lifting off just as the sky begins to lighten — drifting silently over the plains at treetop height, wildlife visible below without the engine noise of a vehicle. Landing is followed by a champagne bush breakfast set up wherever the wind has carried you, then a further afternoon game drive back at camp.

A flight back to Nairobi, with the afternoon free for an optional visit to the Giraffe Centre to hand-feed Rothschild’s giraffe, or a return to Nairobi National Park for a different kind of city-adjacent wildlife encounter.

A genuinely free day, built in deliberately as a buffer against any regional flight delays earlier in the trip — if everything has run on schedule, it’s simply a relaxed day for rest, shopping, or a spa treatment at your hotel.
