The Ngorongoro Crater alone justifies a dedicated trip — a collapsed volcanic caldera holding one of the highest wildlife densities anywhere in Africa, compact enough to explore thoroughly within a single full day on the crater floor.

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1

Arusha to Ngorongoro Crater Rim

Your driver-guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport for the roughly three-hour drive to the Ngorongoro Crater rim, via Lake Manyara and the safari town of Karatu, arriving with dramatic views into the caldera below — over 600 metres straight down to the floor, visible from most lodges perched right on the rim.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is one day enough to see the crater properly?Yes — the crater floor is genuinely compact at roughly 260 square kilometres, allowing a thorough single-day exploration unlike the vast Serengeti.
Is black rhino sighting likely?More reliable here than almost anywhere else in Tanzania, given the crater’s contained, well-monitored population.
