This is a different phenomenon from the wildebeest Great Migration further north — during the dry season, roughly June through October, Tarangire’s elephant population concentrates along the Tarangire River in some of the largest elephant gatherings anywhere in Africa, herds numbering in the hundreds moving together for water.
