3 Days Tour Murchison Falls

1

Day 1: Kampala – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Top of the Falls

Your journey begins with an early morning departure from Kampala or Entebbe, as the road leads you north through Uganda’s rolling hills, villages, and lush farmlands. The first stop is Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in the country where rhinos are being reintroduced into the wild. Here you embark on a guided walk to see these prehistoric giants up close, completing the first step towards the Big Five. After lunch, you continue the drive to Murchison Falls National Park, where the Nile River narrows through a gorge just seven meters wide, creating one of the world’s most powerful waterfalls. Standing at the Top of the Falls, you feel the ground tremble beneath your feet as mist rises into the air and the roar of the Nile fills the valley. By evening, you check into your lodge, surrounded by the wild sounds of the savannah.

Day 2: Game Drive and Nile Boat Safari

The second day is devoted to exploring the heart of Murchison Falls. As dawn breaks, you set out on a game drive across the Buligi tracks, where endless savannahs stretch toward the horizon. This is prime territory for spotting elephants striding across the grasslands, Rothschild giraffes browsing treetops, and prides of lions basking in the morning sun. Antelope species such as Uganda kob and hartebeest are scattered in large herds, and if luck is on your side, leopards and hyenas may reveal themselves. After returning for breakfast and some relaxation at the lodge, the adventure continues in the afternoon with a boat safari along the Victoria Nile. This three-hour cruise takes you past pods of hippos wallowing lazily, crocodiles basking along the banks, and a dazzling array of birdlife. The climax of the journey is reaching the base of Murchison Falls itself, where the Nile crashes down with tremendous force, creating an unforgettable natural spectacle.

Day 3: Morning Wildlife Experience and Return to Kampala

Your final day in the park begins with another chance to embrace the wilderness. You may opt for a short morning game drive, a guided nature walk, or simply take in the views from your lodge before breakfast. As you leave Murchison Falls behind, the return drive retraces the scenic countryside, offering a last glimpse of rural Uganda. By late afternoon or evening, you arrive back in Kampala or Entebbe, closing a safari that has packed unforgettable experiences into just three days. From the rhinos of Ziwa to the thunderous falls of the Nile, this journey leaves you with vivid memories of Uganda’s wild beauty.
