You will be welcomed by your safari guide and transferred to your accommodation in Entebbe or Kampala.

Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at the hotel or enjoy a short introduction to Uganda.

The journey takes you through rural Uganda, where you can see agricultural land, villages, local markets, and beautiful countryside.

Depending on your itinerary and timing, you may make a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a rhino-tracking experience.

This optional activity provides an opportunity to see rhinoceroses on foot while learning about Uganda’s rhino conservation efforts.

Continue toward Murchison Falls National Park.

As you enter the park, the scenery begins to change into open savannah, providing your first opportunity to look for wildlife.

Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a short game drive before proceeding to your lodge.

Enjoy dinner and relax.

Day 3: Murchison Falls Game Drive and Boat Cruise

Wake up early for a morning game drive through Murchison Falls National Park.

The early morning is one of the best periods for wildlife viewing because temperatures are cooler and many animals are active.

Explore the savannah in search of elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kob, hartebeest, warthogs, antelopes, and numerous bird species.

Your professional guide will help you identify wildlife and explain their behavior and role within the ecosystem.

Return to the lodge for breakfast or lunch depending on the timing of the game drive.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile toward the base of Murchison Falls.

The river provides a different perspective of the park.

You may see large groups of hippos in the water and crocodiles resting along the riverbanks. Elephants and buffaloes may also come close to the water to drink.

Bird lovers can enjoy sightings of African fish eagles, kingfishers, herons, storks, cormorants, and other species.

The cruise continues toward the spectacular Murchison Falls, where the Nile is forced through a narrow gorge.

Return to your lodge in the evening.

Day 4: Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, depart Murchison Falls and continue toward Kibale Forest National Park.

This is a scenic journey through Uganda’s countryside.

You will pass through agricultural communities, villages, plantations, and changing landscapes.

As you approach Kibale, the environment becomes greener and increasingly forested.

Kibale is one of Uganda’s most important primate destinations and is particularly famous for its chimpanzee population.

Arrive at your accommodation and relax.

Depending on your arrival time, you may take a nature walk or enjoy the surrounding environment.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Experience

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for your chimpanzee trekking briefing.

You will then enter Kibale Forest with experienced guides and trackers in search of habituated chimpanzees.

The forest is home to a remarkable variety of primates.

During the trek, you may encounter red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, mangabeys, and other forest species.

Chimpanzees can be highly active and move through the forest quickly. You may hear their calls before seeing them.

Once the chimpanzees are located, you can observe their natural behavior, including feeding, climbing, grooming, communicating, and interacting with other members of their community.

After the experience, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, enjoy an optional visit to the Bigodi Wetland area.

The community-based nature experience provides opportunities for birdwatching, primate viewing, and learning about local livelihoods.

Upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth National Park, begin a game drive through the savannah.

The park is home to elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kob, waterbuck, warthogs, hippos, antelopes, and many bird species.

You may also search for lions in areas where they are known to occur.

The Ishasha sector in the southern part of the park is particularly famous for tree-climbing lions, although sightings are never guaranteed.

The Kazinga Channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George and is one of Uganda’s best locations for observing wildlife from the water.

Hippos are frequently seen in the channel, while crocodiles can often be found along the banks.

Elephants and buffaloes may gather near the shoreline, while numerous water birds can be observed around the channel.

After the cruise, begin your journey back toward Kampala or Entebbe.

Depending on your departure schedule, you can make a stop at the Equator crossing for photographs and souvenirs.

Safari Highlights

This 7-day Uganda safari offers a combination of some of the country’s most exciting experiences.

You will explore Murchison Falls National Park, experience the spectacular Murchison Falls, enjoy a Nile boat cruise, search for the Big Five and other wildlife, explore the tropical forests of Kibale, trek in search of chimpanzees, visit the Bigodi Wetland area, explore Queen Elizabeth National Park, and experience the wildlife-rich Kazinga Channel.

The itinerary provides a good balance between wildlife viewing, primate experiences, nature, scenery, and adventure.

Wildlife You May See

Uganda’s national parks support a remarkable variety of wildlife.

During this safari, you may encounter elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, Uganda kob, warthogs, waterbucks, antelopes, chimpanzees, monkeys, crocodiles, and numerous bird species.

Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed because these are wild animals moving freely through their natural habitats.

This unpredictability is part of what makes a safari exciting.

Chimpanzee Trekking Experience

Kibale Forest provides one of Uganda’s most memorable primate experiences.

Chimpanzee trekking takes visitors into the forest in search of habituated chimpanzee communities.

The forest environment is very different from the open savannah of Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Parks.

Walking beneath the forest canopy allows you to experience Uganda’s biodiversity at close range.

The calls of chimpanzees, movement through the trees, colorful birds, butterflies, and other primates all contribute to the experience.

Murchison Falls Experience

Murchison Falls is one of Uganda’s most spectacular natural attractions.

The Nile River is forced through a narrow gorge, creating a powerful waterfall surrounded by dramatic scenery.

The boat cruise toward the bottom of the falls provides excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography.

The combination of the river, wildlife, and powerful waterfall makes Murchison Falls one of the highlights of northern Uganda.

Queen Elizabeth National Park Experience

Queen Elizabeth National Park is famous for its diverse ecosystems.

The park contains savannah, wetlands, forests, lakes, and crater landscapes.

Its location between Lake Edward and Lake George contributes to its ecological diversity.

The Kazinga Channel is one of the park’s major attractions because of its concentration of hippos and other wildlife.

Best Time to Visit Uganda

Uganda is a year-round safari destination.

The traditionally drier seasons can provide favorable conditions for game drives, with generally firmer roads and easier wildlife viewing in many areas.

The wetter seasons create lush green landscapes and can be excellent for photography and birdwatching.

Chimpanzee trekking and wildlife viewing remain possible throughout the year, although weather conditions can influence road and trail conditions.

What to Pack

Pack comfortable clothing suitable for both game drives and forest activities.

For chimpanzee trekking, sturdy hiking shoes or boots are recommended.

Long trousers and long-sleeved shirts can provide protection from vegetation and insects.

A waterproof jacket is useful because rainfall can occur in Uganda’s forests.

Other recommended items include sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, sunglasses, drinking water, a small backpack, personal medication, and a camera.

Early morning game drives can be cool, so a light jacket or warm layer is recommended.

What Is Included

The safari package can include accommodation, meals as indicated in the itinerary, private safari transportation, an English-speaking professional driver-guide, national park entrance fees, game drives, boat cruises mentioned in the itinerary, chimpanzee trekking permits, airport transfers, and other activities specifically included in the final safari package.

What Is Not Included

International flights, Uganda visa fees, travel insurance, personal expenses, alcoholic beverages, laundry, tips, souvenirs, optional activities, and services not specifically mentioned in the final safari package are normally excluded.
